Dinner with Gov. Scott Walker

The Drake Hotel
140 E Walton St
Chicago, Illinois 60611
June 19, 2013, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Join us on Wednesday, June 19, for a reception and dinner with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. The governor was scheduled to be the keynote speaker for The Heartland Institute's 28th Anniversary Benefit Dinner last year, but had to cancel at the last minute. We are honored that Gov. Walker has graciously agreed to come to Chicago to be with fellow lovers of liberty for this special event!

Walker is a Wisconsin political success story who is now a superstar on the national scene. Walker grew up in the small Wisconsin town of Delavan as the son of a pastor and an Eagle Scout who attended, but never graduated, from Marquette University. He was elected to the State Assembly in 1993, as Milwaukee County executive in 2002, and as governor in 2010.

As governor, Walker faced enormous challenges to balance the budget without raising taxes — and just as importantly, to change a political system that otherwise guaranteed a return to budget imbalances every year into the foreseeable future. He was determined to meet that challenge, which triggered public-sector protests in Madison that attracted left-wing activists from across the country and was one of the biggest political stories of 2012. Walker triumphed, winning a recall election by a margin that surpassed his successful run for governor in 2010.

Walker is the country’s most successful and important governor. This is your chance to meet him up close and personal!

Tickets are $250 per person. You can register below or contact Gwendalyn Carver, Heartland's donor relations manager, at 312/377-4000 or gcarver@heartland.org for additional assistance.
