Heartland's 27th Anniversary Benefit Dinner
On Thursday, October 13, The Heartland Institute will celebrate the 27th anniversary of its founding with a reception, silent auction, and dinner with speakers at the Hilton Chicago Hotel. I hope you will join us as we celebrate 27 years of educating legislators and arming citizens with sound philosophy and economics.
For more than a quarter-century Heartland has served the free-market movement as the Midwest think tank with the beltway punch. Heartland grew out of David H. Padden’s Loop Libertarian League, a group that met monthly at the Union League Club in downtown Chicago to discuss politics and philosophy. The idea was to create a think tank in Chicago that would emulate larger D.C. think tanks--national organizations that produce excellent original research. Today, we no longer aim to emulate those think tanks. We fill a unique niche in the free-market movement as the only think tank that directly markets free-market ideas to the nation’s legislators and opinion leaders.
Although we haven't nailed down our speakers yet, we're planning to return to the debate format we've used so successfully in the past. Have thoughts on a topic you'd like us to debate, and who might address the two sides? Please drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Even if we don't quite know what the program will look like, we do know Thursday, October 13 will be a night to remember. Heartland benefit dinners always are! They're a great way to enjoy good food and good company, all while helping a cause you believe in.
