Justin Haskins is The Heartland Institute's editor. As editor, he is responsible for ensuring Heartland’s serial publications — Budget & Tax News, Environment & Climate News, Health Care News, School Reform News, and the QPR membership newsletter — are ready for publication. He is also involved in the production of all books, policy studies, and other publications produced by Heartland.
Haskins manages various social media projects and marketing efforts for Heartland publications as well.
Haskins has been published more than 100 times through various media outlets, including Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Canada, and Red Alert Politics, and he was awarded Yahoo!’s “Contributor of the Month Award” in August 2013. He also was named one of Yahoo!’s “Top 100 Contributors” for 2013. He is the current chief financial officer of Alliance for Medical Aid, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide medical aid to impoverished and remote parts of the world.
Prior to joining The Heartland Institute in 2014, Haskins was the field director for the Rhode Island Republican Party and managing editor of African Conflict and Peacebuilding Review. He received his B.A.S. from the University of Richmond (Richmond, VA) in 2010 and M.A. in government with a specialization in international relations from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA) in 2011. Haskins is currently finishing his second M.A. from Regent University, this time in journalism, and is expected to graduate in May 2015.
