Jake Haulk: Rendell's Wrong About Saving Teachers' Jobs
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) recently bemoaned imminent teacher layoffs in a local school district. He blamed money problems and called for hundreds of millions of dollars of additional state spending on education to avert teacher layoffs in the state. In fact the layoffs are occurring because of declines in student enrollment. Allegheny Institute President Jake Haulk joins us to discuss efforts by politicians to shield teachers and other state and local government workers regardless of the economy or other factors that indicate a need for layoffs or adjustments in pay and benefits.
