Ayatollahs Clear Ahmadinejad – I Mean Penn State Clears Mann
Penn State University, whose prestige had taken a huge hit after the Climategate emails showed their faculty member, Michael Mann, had engaged in repeated and concerted efforts to hide, manipulate, and destroy scientific data contradicting his alarmist global warming theories, has predictably issued a statement claiming an internal review found Michael Mann did nothing wrong. People who wonder why the “mainstream” media has been bleeding credibility and revenues more intensely than Randall “Tex” Cobb bled during his infamous title bout with Larry Holmes need only look at the media falling all over themselves to claim this “proves” Mann did nothing wrong.
Global warming funding is a gravy train for universities, with the government spending literally billions of dollars each year on global warming research. The universities that receive the most government funding are those that most prominently assert a global warming crisis. Mann, in that regard, has been a cash cow for Penn State.
But with the Climategate emails irrefutably showing Mann hiding, manipulating, and destroying scientific data, as well as encouraging a McCarthyistic blackballing of science publications that publish “skeptic” papers, Penn State’s prestige and government funding are in serious jeopardy. Accordingly, objective observers have long predicted the university’s internal review of Mann’s conduct would amount to nothing more than snake oil salesmen circling the wagons to protect their vested interests. Penn State lived up (or down) to all expectations yesterday by clearing Mann of all alleged misconduct, despite the explicit and irrefutable evidence contained in the Climategate emails.
While Penn State’s conduct was sadly predictable, the mainstream media has been equally predictable – and equally devoid of all objectivity and credibility – in unquestioningly championing Penn State’s internal review as “proof” that Mann did nothing wrong, despite the irrefutably damning evidence of the Climategate emails.
Time magazine, for example, writes, “Score a win for climate science: Penn State University announced today that climate scientist Michael Mann had been cleared of all scientific misconduct charges…”
More accurately, how about, “Score a win for corrupt propagandists and bloated university bureaucrats seeking to defend their share of government pork…”? And “Score a win for shamefully biased leftist cheerleaders disguised as objective journalists…”
The predictability of Penn State’s “findings,” as well as its exceedingly corrupt motivation, is no more objective, surprising, or credible than Iranian ayatollahs clearing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of human rights abuses in the crackdown on Iranian political dissidents.
