The problems that follow are by no means exhaustive, but suggest the broad goals of the mathematics content coursework
in an elementary teacher preparation program. In their current form, the problems may not be suitable for use in a
standardized examination with time limitations. Nonetheless, every prospective and practicing elementary teacher should
be able to solve them without use of a calculator.
