The April-May 2008 issue of The Heartlander offers an essay by Heartland President Joseph L. Bast on smoking bans, plus a new feature: a profile of a Heartland donor, in this case Alan Crane.

This issue also reports on the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change in New York City and our release of several new publications:

  • a Heartland Policy Study on the use of visual exhibits in the global warming debate;
  • the Policymakers Summary of a report by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change;
  • a "report card" on the property and casualty insurance environments in the 50 states; and
  • a similar report card on school choice in the states.

The Heartlander also reports on speeches and interviews given by Heartland staff and fellows and summarizes the contents of the March and April issues of our monthly newspapers.
