HIV Partner Notification Act

December 14, 1999

In this ALEC model legislation, the bill states that

The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Department of Public Health to confidentially notify partners of infected individuals of the possibility of being exposed to the HIV virus. Specifically, whenever the Department of Public Health receives a report that an individual is infected with HIV, an employee of the Department would personally and confidentially interview the individual to seek the names and whereabouts of the sexual partners and/or needle-sharing partners of the infected individual.
