HMO's Rise Driven by Government, Not Market

In this Policy Fax, former nurse and head of the Citizens' Council on Health Care, argues that while many want the government to solve their dissatisfaction with HMO care, it would be a wrongheaded solution to the problem.  It is the government's management of health care that has caused costs to rise.  The answer is not a government solution, but the freedom of choice all individuals should have in choosing their health-care coverage.
