Illinois faces an unfunded pension liability for government workers of more than $80 billion. The Illinois Policy Institute has proposed the Pension Funding & Fairness Act to help the state deal with its mammoth pension problem. It includes spending limits, with revenues above the limits going toward pension funding. Some key lawmakers are giving the proposal a serious look.
