Public School Graduates and Dropouts From the Common Core of Data

Robert Stillwell, Jennifer Sable, Chris Plotts –
May 2, 2011

This publication from the National Center for Education Statistics measures states’ graduation rates using the same metrics and the latest data, from 2008-2009 in a report published May 2011. It shows that Georgia’s estimated rate of high school freshmen who graduate in 4 years is 67.8. This means that approximately one-third of Georgia students drop out of high school. The rates are far worse for minorities: the Hispanic graduation rate is 56.6, and the African-American graduation rate is 61.2.
