Public School Graduates and Dropouts From the Common Core of Data

This publication from the National Center for Education Statistics measures states’ graduation rates using the same metrics and the latest data, from 2008-2009 in a report published May 2011. It shows that Georgia’s estimated rate of high school freshmen who graduate in 4 years is 67.8. This means that approximately one-third of Georgia students drop out of high school. The rates are far worse for minorities: the Hispanic graduation rate is 56.6, and the African-American graduation rate is 61.2.
