Social Property and the New Feudalism
October 1, 1996
From the Proceedings of the Second Annual New York State Conference on Private Property Rights, the president of the Ethan Allen Institute, and former Vermont State Senator, John McClaughry, asserts that "social property" is the "new feudalism." The speech briefly speaks to feudalism historically, but addresses the Founding and the property rights (or freehold rights) uttered by those who founded the country, thus shuttering the doors to feudalism based on natural rights philosophy. Private property he concludes, is a inviolable human right.
