Subprime Lending
Prepared by The Heartland Institute –
April 25, 2007
Today, The Heartland Institute is releasing a new Research & Commentary package addressing subprime lending.
Lawmakers are being called upon by consumer groups to restrict subprime lending. Opponents of the practice claim subprime loans hurt the poor by imposing high interest rates, proof of which is said to be found in the current high number of loan defaults. Further, some mistakenly equate subprime lending with predatory lending.
