Testimony before a Texas Senate Committee on Business and Commerce Hearing on Wind Turbines

I will address the alternative energy mandates issue briefly and then the siting issue. I have a point of view and I assert it here today. Senators, do not sacrifice the welfare of Texas and Texans in the pursuit of ill-advised environmental projects and policies, particularly alternative sourcing of electricity.

I agree with John Coleman, meteorologist and founder of the Weather Channel, and hundreds of reputable meteorologists and climate scientists here and abroad who say Mr. Gore is working a junk science scam, a hoax. Mr. Gore should not play with other people’s lives. He is no scientist, just a guy with a belief and a Power Point presentation.

I have practiced medicine for 36 years in the United States, and I assure you that people do not die from a change in temperature of 2 degrees or even 4, they do not die from air pollution in the United States. Not one person. Killer air and toxic air pollution are a historical problem, not a current problem, created by old industrial pollution more than 50 years ago, combined with a less-capable medical system. Modern respiratory care has only been around since the late 1960s.

Ignore the hand-wringers and take a deep breath, Senators. Be happy you live in a great country with a great environment.
