Utah Legislator Seeks to Block Warming Suits

Utah State Rep. Mike Noel (R-Kanab) plans to introduce legislation that would prevent individual citizens from filing lawsuits against companies emitting carbon dioxide. Noel says legislation is necessary after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled individual homeowners that were affected by Hurricane Katrina have standing under current law to sue energy companies for allegedly causing the hurricane.
