For Iowa at least record daily June and July highs show no propensity for increasing in this global warming era.
Des Moines is America’s heartland, a continental climate as far away from the oceans as just about any other location in the lower 48. Continental climates are subject to the greatest extremes both cold and warm. The IPCC and most other global warming analyses project an increasing number of heat records as global warming worsens thanks to greenhouse gases. The data does not support this claim. Looking at Des Moines, Iowa daily records extending back into the 1880s, we find the following for the number of daily record highs during June and then July by decade.
