Whither Wilderness? How Much Is Enough?

In the current debate over how best to manage America's forests and other wild lands of the nation, retention and restoration of ever more land as "wilderness areas" is held by many to be the best way, indeed often the only way, to rectify "past mismanagement" and to ensure the future well-being of both the land and humanity.
