Workers' Compensation: A Guide for Policy Makers
March 1, 1999
Workers' compensation is a "no-fault" system that covers employee medical costs and replaces a portionn of lost income resulting from on-the-job injuries. Workers' compensation is governed by state statutes and administrative rules, which are administered by a state workers' compensation agency or board. Statutes and administrative rules can vary greatly across the states, although the basic premise--replacing lost income due to workplace injuries--is the same.
