MARCH 13, 2012 – Jay Lehr, Ph.D., science director of the Chicago-based Heartland Institute, will testify this morning before the Kansas House Energy and Utilities Committee on renewable energy. Following Dr. Lehr on the panel will be Michael Groggin, transmission director of the American Wind Energy Association.
The hearing has been called in relation to House Bill 2446, which would make any increases in the state’s renewable energy mandate conditional on the commencement of construction of the Sunflower coal power plant expansion by January 1, 2016. Approval for the Sunflower expansion was passed in 2009 as part of House Bill 2639, which also created the state’s renewable energy mandate.
