William Happer: Why Has Global Warming Paused?
Prof. William Happer, a distinguished professor of physics at Princeton University, will address the topic "Why Has Global Warming Paused?" at Argonne National Laboratory, in suburban Chicago, on Friday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m. The event is open to the public, and this may be a little like Daniel entering the lion’s den. He could really use the support of Heartland donors and friends.
Here are the details:

Open to the public, but you must get a “gate pass.” Contact Dr. Happer directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prof. Happer caused quite a stir when he published an essay strongly critical of global warming alarmism in a 2011 issue of First Things.
He describes the remarks he plans to deliver at Argonne this way:
“I intend to review some of the facts about climate, the plateau of surface temperatures over the past decade or two, a bit of paleoclimate, some of the basic physics of the greenhouse effect, etc.
“I will also discuss some new work I have been doing on the direct radiative forcing by more CO2. I think the direct forcing has been overestimated ...
“I think the observational record is crystal clear that models have greatly exaggerated the warming that increased CO2 will cause. It is likely this is the result of many factors, all fudged to make the warming look more frightening. The most obvious suspects are water vapor feedback, clouds, and the direct radiative forcing which I will discuss in the colloquium.
“If you and any friends might be able to come to the talk and give me some moral support, let me know so I can get you gate passes for the laboratory. There will probably be a followup luncheon discussion.”
If you’re able to attend the colloquium, please contact Dr. Happer for your gate pass – and let him know you’re a fan of his efforts and Heartland’s!
