Vicki Alger: What to Do with No Child Left Behind
Congress is debating what to do about the largest federal education law, which is six years overdue for its consideration. Vicki Alger, a senior fellow at the Independent Women's Forum and director of their Women for School Choice project, joins the podcast to discuss what Congress should do about the roundly vilified law, and why. Alger has recently written an IWF policy focus on the topic. It's titled, "Time to Retire, Not Reauthorize, No Child Left Behind." She discusses why she came to that conclusion, why lots of parents may be ready to agree, and what the history of the U.S. Department of Education has to say about current reform efforts.
