AUSTRALIA REPEALS CARBON TAX
Australia has repealed its carbon tax, fulfilling a pledge liberal candidates made before sweeping to victory in elections last year. “Today, the tax that you voted to get rid of is finally gone,” Prime Minister Tony Abbott told parliament. “A useless, destructive tax which damaged jobs, which hurt families’ cost of living, and which didn’t actually help the environment is finally gone.” Australia’s action follows nations such as Canada, Japan, Germany, Spain, and the UK backing away from costly programs designed to reduce conventional power generation and carbon dioxide emissions.

MYTHS BUSTED AT CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE
Climate scientists busted several frequently asserted global warming myths at the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change, reports Nancy Thorner. Writing for The Heartland Institute’s Environment & Climate News, Thorner provided an overview of some of the conference’s most compelling presentations. “Speakers addressed myths of climate alarmism, specifically refuting the often-repeated assertion that 97 percent of scientists disagree with so-called global warming skeptics,” Thorner wrote.

GREENPEACE CO-FOUNDER PATRICK MOORE DOCUMENTS WARMING BENEFITS
Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore documented the benefits of global warming at the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change. “CO2 is the most important nutrient for all life on Earth,” Moore explained. Global cooling, Moore added, presents a greater threat than global warming. The Canadian environmental activist said he hopes global warming will make its way to the northern part of his country.

ONLY 20 PERCENT SAY THE SCIENCE IS SETTLED
Merely 20 percent of Americans say the science is settled regarding global warming, a Rasmussen survey reports. Even among people who believe global warming is a very serious problem, a majority say the science is still unsettled. The Rasmussen survey also reported a majority of respondents disagree with policies by some news organizations to ban skeptical scientists and skeptical arguments from their coverage.

STEYER DEMONSTRATES LITTLE FUNDRAISING CLOUT
Billionaire global warming activists Tom Steyer is falling woefully short on his promise to raise $50 million to support global warming alarmists in the November 2014 U.S. elections. Documents leaked to Politico report Steyer raised just $1.2 million through mid-July. “The numbers show just how hard it may be for Steyer to persuade rich liberals to spend their millions on climate change while voters focus on the economy, immigration and Obamacare,” Politico reports.
