The Antarctic ice cap is not shrinking despite alarmist claims to the contrary, scientists report in the peer-reviewed science journal The Cryosphere. Moreover, the scientists report “a clear increase in accumulation of more than 10% has occurred in high SMB (surface mass balance) coastal regions and over the highest part of the East Antarctic ice divide since the 1960s.”
Importantly, the scientists report a clear correlation between variations in solar irradiance and variations in Antarctic ice balance. This finding adds weight to scientific evidence that nature plays a dominant role in global climate changes.
“Eight hundred years of stacked records of the SMB mimic the total solar irradiance during the 13th and 18th centuries,” the scientists report.
