Immediately after discovering the body of Canadian tourist Elisa Lam in the hotel roof’s water tank, fire officials shut off the water supply to the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. City health inspectors tested the water supply and found it free of biohazards. Two hotel guests, Steven and Gloria Cott, are nevertheless suing the Cecil Hotel for not providing clean water during their stay.
The Cotts have brought their suit as a class action, potentially including anyone who stayed at the hotel between February 1, when Lam was last seen, and February 19, when her body was discovered.
