Homeschooler or Truant?

As part of a nationwide effort to combat truancy, a local government official in Somerset, England, has come up with an easy way for police officers to distinguish between homeschoolers and truants: Let the homeschoolers register with the local authorities, who would then issue a badge for the homeschooler to wear. That way, police could focus their attention on children not wearing homeschooler badges, who would be more likely to be truants.

“Home school families being told this are horrified,” said Kimberly Moore, who homeschools her two children.
