Jonathan Cohler
Jonathan Cohler is a physicist, computer scientist, climate analyst, and AI researcher renowned for applying rigorous scientific, physical, and mathematical principles to complex systems. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University with a degree in Physics. He joined The Heartland Institute’s Board of Policy Advisors in 2026.
In recent years, Cohler has emerged as a leading voice challenging the mainstream narrative on anthropogenic global warming. In 2025, he co-authored a widely viewed paper that reached over 2 million viewers on X, amplified by a feature on Dr. Robert Malone’s Substack. Published in Science of Climate Change and co-authored with climatologist David Legates and astrophysicist Willie Soon, the paper concludes that natural climate drivers overwhelmingly dominate observed variability and that the CO₂-warming hypothesis lacks robust empirical support.
His 2026 paper on the physical invalidity of Argo-derived ocean heat content (OHC) and Earth’s Energy Imbalance (EEI) co-authored with David Legates, Kesten Green, Ole Humlum, Franklin Soon, and Willie Soon and published in Science of Climate Change was highlighted in Climate Change Weekly #576, published by the Heartland Institute. And in 2025, his paper on global mean surface temperature (GMST), published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons was covered by Yahoo Finance News. The paper demonstrated that the widely reported GMST is physically meaningless and argued that much of modern climate science and policy rests on a fundamentally flawed concept.
Cohler is a sought-after speaker and commentator on climate science, with recent appearances at the 16th International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC16), Doctors for Disaster Preparedness conferences (2024 and 2025), the Tom Nelson Podcast, Fine Point with Chanel Rion, The Sentinel Report with Alex Newman, and Amazing Academics with Dr. Philip Davies.
Beyond his scientific work, Cohler is an internationally acclaimed classical clarinet soloist and conductor, whom Fanfare Magazine hailed as “the preeminent, most-recorded clarinet soloist of our time.” He has released numerous critically praised recordings on Ongaku Records.
