Jonathan Steitz

Jonathan Steitz is an investment banker for a leading middle-market financial services firm and a budget and tax policy advisor for the Heartland Institute.

Mr. Steitz brings real-world experience and a practical viewpoint to the area of tax policy. In his current role as an investment banker, Mr. Steitz focuses on mergers and acquisitions and equity offerings. He previously practiced securities law in Chicago and London for a leading international law firm, with a focus on complex capital market transactions in the United States and Europe. His banking experience and legal practice have allowed Mr. Steitz to experience first-hand how the tax policies of various jurisdictions impact investment decisions in the private sector. Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Steitz owned and operated a small business for over seven years.

Mr. Steitz received his M.B.A from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. Mr. Steitz was the Republican candidate for the 22nd district Wisconsin State Senate during the 2011 recall elections, running on a platform of free-market principles.
