Terry Brown

Vice President, School Choice Wisconsin

Terry Brown is Vice President of School Choice Wisconsin. School Choice Wisconsin is a non-partisan,statewide organization dedicated to advancing private and religious school choice. For the past several years,Terry has been assisting schools participating in the Milwaukee and Racine school choice programs.

Currently,Terry is working with school leaders, private and religious school boards, and parents to maximize theparticipation of families and schools in the new statewide Wisconsin Parental Choice Program. He is also a policy advisor for The Heartland Institute. Prior to joining School Choice Wisconsin, Terry led Saint Anthony School of Milwaukee, the nation’s largest Catholic gradeschool. Terry led a major expansion of Saint Anthony School increasing enrollment from 400 to 1450 studentsin grades PreK-10.

Terry also initiated a comprehensive school reform that included Direct Instruction, theCore Knowledge content sequence, multi-age achievement grouping, a lengthened school day, and after-schooltutoring programs. In 2009, Terry further expanded Saint Anthony School to include a high school programfocused on the classics. Terry received his BA in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison andhis MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona.

Prior to joining SaintAnthony School, Terry enjoyed assignments in Asia with GE Healthcare, and later worked for Piper Jaffrayand US Bancorp in Milwaukee. Terry is Board Chair of the Alliance for Choices in Education and a memberof the board of directors of the National Council for Private School Accreditation. Terry has been featured inseveral reports including the Thomas Fordham Foundation’s “Who Will Save America’s Catholic Schools”and the University of Notre Dame’s “To Nurture the Soul of a Nation: Latino Families, Catholic Schools andEducational Opportunity”. Terry has been honored as one of “Thirteen School Leaders Who Perform” by theD.C.-based Center for Education Reform.
