Global warming alarmism is now a minority view, according to a survey released April 22, 2009 on the 39th anniversary of Earth Day.
The poll by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion covered 1,118 United States residents, and was conducted on April 1-3, 2009.
It found that 69% of respondents believe global warming is either a “minor problem” or “no problem at all.” Only 31% believed it was a “major problem.”
Only 12% of Republicans, 28% of Independents, and 48% of Democrats think global warming is a major problem.
This is the first poll to show that global warming alarmism is now a minority perspective even among Democrats.
