Only One in Four Voters Considers Gore a Global Warming Expert

Published September 9, 2011

Only 24 percent of likely American voters consider Al Gore an expert on global warming, according to a new poll released by Rasmussen Reports. More than twice that number – 59 percent – say Gore is not an expert, while 18 percent are not sure.

Comparatively speaking, more Americans believe in haunted houses (37 percent) than believe in Al Gore’s global warming expertise. Also, more Americans believe extraterrestrials are visiting the earth (34 percent) than believe in Al Gore’s global warming expertise. Gore does, however, beat out people who believe in spells and witchcraft (19 percent).

Interestingly, not even a majority of Democrats (merely 43 percent) believe Gore is a global warming expert.
