Comedian Rob Delaney has announced he’s suing Kim Kardashian because she’s getting divorced from her husband of 72 days, Kris Humphries.
Delaney swears “this is not a joke.” He’s been tweeting and blogging about his planned lawsuit, evidently some sort of fraud case:
“I wish to formally announce that I am suing Kim Kardashian to stop her divorce from Kris Humphries. I am also suing Ryan Seacrest, E! Entertainment Television, and Comcast for promoting their sham marriage, bilking advertisers, and polluting the airwaves of America and every other nation unfortunate enough to be subject to the disease of Kardashia.”
Kardashian and Humphries were paid $18 million for the broadcast rights to their two marriage ceremonies, and Delaney says he wants Kardashian to refund that money: “I feel like schools could use that money,” Delaney said. “Or health clinics in areas hit hardest by the recession. Or Pizza Hut. Or Bernie Madoff. Or my uncle Mitchell, who is a convicted sex offender making a living selling Percocet to the elderly in Rhode Island.”
Giving the money to Delaney’s uncle would send Kardashian a message, Delaney said in an interview with Village Voice: “He’s a terrible guy. I think that he would spend the money better than she could. Obviously he’ll spend it terribly, but it’ll be symbolic to give it to him: This is what we think of you, Kim, and we think your money would be better spent given to a multiple-convicted sex offender who sells prescription drugs to old people who don’t even need them, they’re just trying to get high. That’s my opinion.”
Lawyers contacted by LA Weekly were doubtful the lawsuit would succeed. “That’s just crazy talk,” one said.
