(Chicago, IL) Lee Walker, president of The New Coalition for Economic & Social Change, has been named a contributing editor of the Chicago Defender, the country’s only black daily newspaper.
“It is a great honor to join the editorial board of this historic newspaper,” said Walker. “Since its founding, the newspaper has fought nearly 100 years against discrimination and for first-class citizenship for minorities. These are among the issues The New Coalition focuses its attention on.
“With the opportunity to work with the new editor, Roland S. Martin, it will be a privilege to support and work with a new team in making the Chicago Defender a major source of timely information for black Americans.
“As the leader of a conservative public policy research organization, I am concerned with the stumbling blocks that face the black community,” Walker added. “Writing a regular column in the Defender will give me an opportunity to present a viewpoint that is often not heard in the regular media.”
Founded in 1993, The New Coalition is a national free-market think tank based in downtown Chicago that focuses on public policy issues affecting blacks.
