CHICAGO, IL: The first event to feature declared and potential candidates for U.S. Senate in Illinois will take place at the Chicago Conservative Conference on May 17, 2003, at The Palmer House Hilton Hotel in downtown Chicago.
The candidate forum will take place during lunch. Candidates will be asked to make brief statements and then take questions from the audience. All candidates, regardless of party affiliation, are being asked to attend.
The one-day event will also feature nationally known speakers Morton Blackwell of the Leadership Institute; Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform; Larry Patrick, former president of the Detroit School Board; Janet LaRue of Concerned Women for America; John Lott of the American Enterprise Institute; and Jay Lehr, science director for The Heartland Institute and head of Environmental Education Enterprises.
The Chicago Conservative Conference will also include well-known Illinois and Chicago area conservative and libertarian activists, including DuPage County State’s Attorney Joe Birkett; Allan Carlson of The Howard Center; retired Lieutenant Colonel Rich Gordon, a recent war analyst for WGN-TV and CLTV; University of Chicago law professor Richard Epstein; Village of Maywood Mayor Ralph Conner; and WLS-AM radio host Teri O’Brien.
The program will allow area conservatives and libertarians to hear a series of dynamic presentations by the featured speakers as well as take part in breakout sessions, where participants can interact more closely with the speakers.
