Keep America Beautiful, Inc. has named Anheuser-Busch the recipient of its 2003 Vision for America Award. The award will be presented to August A. Busch III, chairman of the board of Anheuser-Busch, in Chicago on October 28.

The award recognizes Anheuser-Busch’s comprehensive environmental approach to business, commitment to environmental causes, and many innovations in conservation, recycling, and animal rescue and rehabilitation.

“Anheuser-Busch has an impressive and long-standing record of environmental stewardship that extends back for more than a century,” said Keep America Beautiful President G. Raymond Empson. “Its corporate environmental philosophy is based on a deeply rooted commitment to support the environment and conserve natural resources.”

Anheuser-Busch, the largest recycler of aluminum cans in the world, is the 18th recipient of the Vision for America Award. Since 1986, Keep America Beautiful has presented the award annually to corporations that have significantly enhanced civic, environmental, and social stewardship throughout the United States.

“We are proud to highlight the achievements of Anheuser-Busch before the American public by bestowing Keep America Beautiful’s highest honor, and hope to inspire other corporations to foster similar environmental goals and an improved quality of life,” said Empson.

Anheuser-Busch has diverse interests in beer, adventure park entertainment, and packaging. The company’s SeaWorld Adventure Parks rescue, rehabilitate, and release to the wild more marine animals than any rescue operation in the world.

Keep America Beautiful, Inc. is a national nonprofit public education and community improvement organization whose network of more than 500 local, statewide, and international affiliates engages individuals in programs that prevent litter and encourage the reduction, reuse, recycling, and proper management of waste materials.
