The December issue of Budget & Tax News contained an illustration of a burning dollar bill. The editors failed to notice the picture included words, in small print, that were derogatory toward the Jewish community.
The illustration was pulled from an Internet site by a graphic designer and was not selected by the author of the article next to which the image appeared. Its appearance was entirely by accident and without any intention of endorsing or spreading the repugnant message hidden in the image. Our carelessness resulted in an insult to the intelligence of all of our readers, and to our Jewish readers in particular.
We apologize to our readers and to the author of the article that appeared near this offensive image. The slur was eliminated before the online version of the newspaper was posted. This notice and apology appears in the January issue.
