Bill Could Hinder Progress of Charter Schools

Published August 14, 2007

California has always been a leader when it comes to charter schools. So it is extremely unfortunate to see that some in Sacramento are trying to move the state a step backward [“Bill could hinder expansion of charter schools,” August 2].

When charter schools are forced to get approval from local school boards, too often political concerns supersede sound judgment. Let’s hope Californians put children first and resist any rollback of the outstanding progress the state has made.
