The National Park Service reports that a cold spring is delaying cherry blossom season in Washington DC. After initially forecasting that peak cherry blossom season will occur March 26 through 30, the Park Service now predicts peak season will occur April 3 through 6.
In 2012, when peak cherry blossom season occurred earlier in the year due a warmer spring, the media flooded the airwaves and filled newsprint with claims that an early cherry blossom season was yet another sign of a global warming crisis.
So far in 2013, the media has been silent about any similar connection between this year’s late cherry bloom season and global cooling.
