A new catch phrase is making the rounds among global warming alarmists and their media allies. Every time a fire breaks out somewhere or a summer heat wave occurs, the media quotes some longtime alarmist “scientist” saying, “This is what global warming looks like.” A quick look at the two most prominent such assertions this summer show what global warming alarmism really looks like: shamelessly doctored data and blatantly reconstructed subjective memories.
As summer produces its usual summertime heat, the media alarmists and their media allies are breathlessly claiming this year’s heat proves the existence of unprecedented global warming. Alarmists claim the United States during the past 12 months experienced its hottest 12-month period in history. The media obligingly fawns over these claims and sells the story to the American public. Yet the factual data show no such thing.
U.S. temperature station readings show several years during the early and middle twentieth century were substantially warmer than 2011 and 2012. In fact, the data show the past 12 months are not even close to approaching the warmth of 80 years ago. So how do the alarmists make such blatantly false claims? The answer is they adjust the raw data, adding several tenths of degrees of fictitious warming during the past 50 years. Their adjustments make a perfect hockey-stick-appearing temperature graph.
Similarly, alarmist activists and their media allies claim global warming is causing unprecedented wildfires in the United States. A newly published peer-reviewed study, however, shows U.S. wildfires are at a 3,000-year low.

MANN SAYS SKEPTICS COMMITTING ‘CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY’
Alarmist media darling Michael Mann told ABC News that global warming skeptics are committing “crimes against humanity.” Historically, the penalty for people committing crimes against humanity is execution. ABC News sympathetically continued the interview after Mann’s incendiary assertion, and the media has not batted an eyebrow over Mann’s vitriol.

MANN SAYS NO ROOM FOR GOOD-FAITH DEBATE
In the same ABC News interview in which high-profile alarmist Michael Mann says global warming skeptics are committing crimes against humanity, he says there is no room for good-faith discussion or debate regarding global warming. So there is apparently no need for a good-faith trial before sentencing global warming skeptics to execution.

ICE-FREE ARCTIC PREDICTION FAILS
The summer of 2012 is here, marking the finish line for a high-profile prediction of global warming gloom and doom. In 2007, the Associated Press, National Geographic News, and other media outlets trumpeted an alarmist scientist’s prediction that the Arctic ice cap would melt away by the summer of 2012. The summer of 2012 is here and the Arctic ice cap is no smaller than it was in 2007. Perhaps we can expect the Associated Press, National Geographic News, and other media outlets to trumpet the failed prediction as vigorously as they reported on the prediction five years ago.

MICHAELS DEBUNKS BORENSTEIN’S LATEST ALARMISM
