About the Benefit Dinner
Is a strong moral culture required in a free society? Can freedom exist in world where people do not believe in divine retribution? Is skepticism a hindrance to liberty?
This year, The Heartland Institute is asking big questions at its 22nd Anniversary Benefit Dinner. Two of the country’s most prominent scholars, Professor Richard Epstein of the University of Chicago and Rev. Robert Sirico of the Acton Institute, will discuss the interplay between skepticism, faith, and freedom.
Epstein and Sirico are among the most influential libertarians in the country. Epstein is a professor of law at the University of Chicago and author of Skepticism and Freedom, which discusses the prospects for classical liberalism in a skeptical world. Sirico is president and co-founder of the Acton Institute, which promotes a vision of society that is “both free and virtuous, the end of which is human flourishing.”
The dinner will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Chicago Hotel, located at 720 South Michigan Avenue, overlooking Grant Park in downtown Chicago. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., with dinner seating at 6:30 p.m.
