I just got the September 2004 issue of Health Care News. The front page regarding corruption and shakedowns in the Illinois government says it all.
This is a point sadly missed time and again by those who, despite the best of intentions, think that the public sector is the solution to social problems. I wish that your publication were required reading … very enlightening in a world where the siren song of government (the taxpayer) assuming all costs and all risks is so attractive to some of the electorate.
