Important Endorsement for Choice

Published September 27, 2007

Your paper’s endorsement of school choice in D.C. on Wednesday, Sept.12 was refreshing [“A Choice for D.C. Students”]. Converting formerly religious schools to new secular charter schools should pose no threat to public education. After all, charter schools are public schools. It’s important to note that privatization doesn’t pose a threat to public education, either. Many countries incorporate private schools into their efforts to educate their citizens. And all across the country, and even in D.C., vouchers have proven to enhance public education.
