Chicago, IL: Lee D. Tooman, Jr., Vice President for Government Relations for the Indiana-based Golden Rule Insurance Company, was named to the Board of Directors of The Heartland Institute at its September 18, 2003, board meeting, according to Herbert Walberg, chairman of The Heartland Institute Board of Directors.
Tooman is responsible for all Golden Rule’s state government relations efforts, which involves maintaining relations with state legislators, government regulators, and insurance industry representatives on matters pertaining to life and health insurance. He supervises a staff of nine and approximately 40 contract lobbyists in the states.
Prior to joining Golden Rule, Tooman was a marketing manager with Genesco and a program director with the Division of Management Education at the University of Michigan. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio State University, an MBA from the University of Toledo, and a JD from Indiana University.
