Media Advisory: Heartland Institute Experts to Speak About Parent Trigger at Charter School Conference in Chicago

Published April 12, 2011

School reform experts from The Heartland Institute will be taking part in a panel discussion Tuesday, April 12, at the INCS Statewide Charter School Conference at the Hyatt Hotel McCormick Place in Chicago. The 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. session will inform attendees about Parent Trigger legislation recently passed in California, provide a progress report on existing parent petitions, and provide details on Parent Trigger bills submitted in other states.

Every aspect of Parent Trigger laws will be covered, including the potential for amending existing “conversion charter” laws. The Heartland Institute has been working hard to educate parents, legislators, and activists about the Parent Trigger since the spring of this year. (See Heartland’s Bruno Behrend discussing the Parent Trigger on Chicago’s Channel 50 last week.)
