Quash Quincy’s Plan

Published August 25, 2010

Quincy is wrong to try imposing a nonresident auto crash fee. (“Quincy collects again and again,” Aug. 19). These fees are an awful idea. These fees for emergency services delivered at the scene of an auto accident place a large burden on out-of-town drivers who already pay for similar taxes in their own hometowns.

Enough is enough. Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Tennessee have banned crash taxes. Massachusetts should follow their lead.
