Only 36 percent of geoscientists and engineers believe humans are creating a global warming crisis, according to a newly published survey reported in the peer-reviewed Organization Studies. The survey throws cold water on assertions by global warming alarmists that nearly all scientists agree humans are causing a global warming crisis.
Nearly two-thirds of the 1,077 survey respondents said nature is the primary cause of recent global warming and/or that future global warming will not be a very serious problem.
The survey is particularly compelling given geoscientists’ focus on Earth science issues.
The survey results show geoscientists and engineers hold similar views as meteorologists. Two recent surveys of meteorologists (summarized here and here) revealed similar skepticism regarding alarmist global warming claims.

Global warming alarmists are trying to take advantage of the blizzard moving into the northeastern United States today by claiming global warming is causing more heavy snow storms. According to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, however, global warming is supposed to cause a decline in heavy snowstorms.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts published an excellent article debunking assertions that warmer ocean temperatures are a primary cause of the blizzard moving in on the U.S. Northeast today. Ocean temperatures off the U.S. Northeast are actually cooler than average.

BENEFITS OF HIGHER CO2 OUTWEIGH NEGATIVES IN AMAZON RAINFOREST
Higher concentrations of atmospheric carbon dioxide fertilize the Amazon rainforest and allow the rainforest to withstand the stresses of higher temperatures, scientists report in the peer-reviewed science journal Nature. According to the scientists, the benefits of higher atmospheric carbon dioxide levels outweigh any stresses caused by warmer temperatures.
PEER-REVIEWED STUDY: MODELS OVERSTATE WARMING EFFECTS OF CO2
Climate models that predict a future global warming crisis do not accurately reflect climate during the past century, scientists report in the peer-reviewed Journal of Geophysical Research Atmospheres. The models fail to accurately account for the effects of aerosols and “have a relatively large positive forcing and overestimate the observed temperature change.”

WASTE HEAT MAY PLAY A LARGE ROLE IN OBSERVED WARMING
Heat given off by energy consumption may have a larger impact on global temperatures than commonly believed, climate scientist Roy Spencer reports. One reason for this, Spencer reports, is waste heat given off by energy consumption is concentrated near the Earth’s surface and therefore disproportionately skews surface temperature station readings.

CORAL REEFS THRIVE IN EXTREMELY WARM WATER
Many coral reefs thrive in warm water, including coral reefs in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. The success of coral reefs in these warm-water locations debunks alarmist assertions that warmer ocean temperatures will decimate coral reefs.
