Corporate & Foundation Support
The Heartland Institute is a publicly supported charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The entire amount of a contribution is a qualified expenditure by most foundations. Hundreds of foundations contribute to The Heartland Institute every year.
Heartland also accepts gifts from corporations, but with safeguards to ensure the independence of our researchers. We do not take positions in order to appease or avoid losing support from individual donors, and we do not conduct contract research for private parties. All of our research and publications are made available to the general public.
Corporations and foundations contribute to us because they share our belief that better information and understanding can improve public policies in such important areas as education, environmental protection, and health care. Heartland does not solicit or accept grants from government agencies.
