Thanks to Janet Napolitano and her Department of Homeland Security (DHS), it won’t be surprising if President Obama next comes for our scissors.
DHS has released a video entitled “Active Shooter Situation: Options for Consideration.” Run or hide, the DHS video advises.
“If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available.”
The video shows a hand reaching for a pair of sharp, black-handled steel office scissors.
It’s no secret the federal government already wants to confiscate our guns. And the possession knives of one kind or another is already limited under laws in all fifty states. In Delaware, until last year, it was illegal to carry a knife in your pocket within your own home without a concealed carry permit. Fortunately, the Delaware Supreme Court invalidated that law in June 2012. But there are still laws restricting knife possession and use on the books across the United States, asKnife Rights exposes.
In the U.K., it is illegal to possess a pocket knife in public with a blade longer than three inches or to sell a razor blade to a person under the age of sixteen. Now, some there are proposing a ban on “long kitchen knives.”
America, under the current regime, can’t be far behind.
The DHS recommendation to use scissors to foil an active armed shooter is ridiculous enough anywhere, but it is certainly useless in the case of an active shooter of school children. School children already are restricted to scissors with rounded points.
The Supreme Court has held that the government has no obligation to protect any of us from endangerment. So we must rely on ourselves for self protection. Guess that means with our cold dead hands.
