Antarctic Ice Extent Resembling Hockey Stick

Published December 10, 2013

Antarctic polar ice extent charts are increasingly looking like global warming alarmist Michael Mann’s discredited hockey stick temperature graph. The only difference is Mann cherry-picked his data and employed statistical chicanery to produce his hockey stick chart, while nobody has produced evidence that Southern Hemisphere polar ice is employing similar dubious methods to inflate its extent.

According to NASA and NOAA satellite data, total global sea ice extent in 2013 was above the long-term average. Substantial growth in Antarctic sea ice spurred global sea ice surge.

In An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore calls Antarctica a “canary in the coal mine” for global warming. According to satellite measurements and Gore’s hypothesis, however, Antarctic ice extent must be a canary in the coal mine for another Little Ice Age.

The latest satellite measurements, linked here, show a rapid rise in Antarctic sea ice in recent years, calling to mind’s Mann’s discredited hockey stick.

The latest satellite measurements of total global polar ice, linked here, reinforces the fact that the harbinger of Gore’s own choosing – polar ice melt – simply is nonexistent in the real world.
