Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) will introduce the following three bills to give American parents and communities direct control over their education dollars.
Family Education Freedom Act. Would give parents an inflation-adjusted $3,000 per child per year tax credit for educational expenses incurred for public, private, parochial, or home schooling. It is estimated the Act would return over $168.9 billion to America’s parents over a 10-year period.
Education Improvement Tax Cut Act. Would provide a tax credit for donations to K-12 education scholarships, as well as for cash or in-kind donations to public or private schools. Such scholarship funds–similar to those recently ruled to be constitutional in Arizona–would provide access to alternative schools for families whose income did not qualify them for the Family Education Freedom tax credit.
Teacher Tax Cut Act. To ensure that quality people enter and remain in the teaching profession, this bill would raise teacher take-home pay by reducing income taxes. Every teacher in the nation would be given a $1,000 tax credit.
